New Series Announced

I’m pleased to be able to announce that I’ve got a new series that will start in 2013. The “Adrenaline” series revolves around an elite Search and Rescue squad based out of Banff, Alberta. Specializing in high-risk alpine rescue, this award-winning team utilizes helicopter, rock climbing, skis or other back-country techniques as required. Each book will revolve around a different member of the team.
The books will be published through Berkley Sensation. I am very excited to be working on these with Cindy Hwang at Berkley, who is one of the NY editors I’ve heard so many wonderful things about over the years.
First book is tentatively scheduled for April 2013

Rocky Mountain Desire hits New York Times and USA bestseller lists

Mar. 29, 2012 – Cincinnati–International publisher Samhain Publishing® continued to raise the bar in March, with author duo Jayne Rylon and Mari Carr’s release Western Ties debuting on the eBook bestseller list for The New York Times (eNYT) at 17, on the combined print and eBook NYT bestseller list at 26, and on the USA Today bestseller list at 59.
Just one week later, author Vivian Arend debuted her new release Rocky Mountain Desire at 14 on the eNYT list—the highest position yet for Samhain Publishing. Arend also ranked 24th on the combined print and eBook list, and 60th on the USA Bestseller list.
According to Christina Brashear, president, Samhain Publishing, these records will likely not stand for very long, with 5-7 new titles being released each week. “It’s exciting to see the success of our authors, particularly those who have developed a long-term relationship with their fans by delivering consistently strong work book after book,” she says. “We’re proud to feature such outstanding talent at Samhain.”
The New York Times’ eBook bestseller lists in fiction and nonfiction are compiled from weekly data from publishers, chain bookstores, independent booksellers and online retailers, among other sources. Since 1935, The Times has published bestseller lists, widely considered the industry standard. Bestseller lists are also published by Publishers Weekly, a trade publication, and newspapers including The Los Angeles Times and USA Today.
The USA Today Bestseller list is different from the eNYT model, in that it combines both eBook and traditional print books in the same list.

2012 “Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing
The “Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing has become one of the most popular events at RWA’s Annual Conference. More than 500 romance authors participate in this autographing event, and each year we raise thousands of dollars, which are donated to ProLiteracy Worldwide and local literacy organizations. Since 1990, RWA has raised more than $716,000 to fight illiteracy.
Romance Writers of America is pleased to announce that the 2012 “Readers for Life” Literacy Autographing will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center, which is conveniently located next to the Anaheim Marriott (RWA’s conference hotel). RWA would like to thank Avon Books for generously underwriting the event, which takes place Wednesday, July 25, 2012, from 5–8 p.m. PT in the Ballroom (third floor) at the convention center.
This event is open to the public; there is no admittance fee. Please note: No outside books will be allowed in (from attendees, not signing authors). Proceeds from book sales go to ProLiteracy Worldwide.

Rocky Mountain Haven hits bestseller lists

The January 10th release of Rocky Mountain Haven has hit both the New York Times ebook list (#31) and the USA Today list (#102).

Jan. 19, 2012 – Cincinnati–International publisher Samhain Publishing® today announced that author Vivian Arend has been ranked on the New York Times Bestseller list for ebooks (31), and the USA Today Bestseller list (102) for eBooks and print books, with her eBook romance, Rocky Mountain Haven. The novel is only available in eBook format.

New release dates

I’ve updated the website for the latest print and ebook release dates for 2012. Subject to change, but they should be fairly accurate. Looks like I’ll have 7 new print books for those of you who prefer that format or are adding my books in print to a keeper shelf.
